Mobile anything - from the mobile mechanic, pet groomer - they can open up shop and have the customer come to them.
So, cool. I checked my email yesterday - and found I had an order. I was struck speechless when I saw it was for 150 flowering tea wedding favors! The teas are very unique - not everyone has seen flowering tea before, and it is a beautiful representation of "blooming love." Perfect for wedding/shower favors.
I charged half up front and will charge JS the remainder at the time of shipping. That way I was able to order the supplies and should have them all done up for her by the end of next week, in plenty of time to get them to her before her reception party.
Sun, families, bikes, dogs and candles. What a nice mix. Stapleton's Farmers Market may not be the biggest in the area, but its up and coming! The best part is, as always, the people. I feel I may have made some new friends.
2008 is the first year I've every participated in a farmers market, or anything outside. Mostly I do craft fairs in the winter, nice and warm and safe from the elements, at least safe once I get inside. Sure I've seen people out there selling candles when I go to the farmer's markets and festivals and fairs in the summer. My son-in-love, Eric, has been doing them a year now, and seems to have great success in northern California with outdoor venues. So, this year, I thought I would give it a try.
I procrastinated (my way of not committing) too long to get into the Southland's FM, but I got into Stapleton even though I waited until two days before their opening day. ;) Darn, they accepted me and off I went on Sunday morning at the crack of Don. I'm sorry, I meant crack of dawn. ;)
It was slow going, may be because it was Father's Day, and lots of people are at church early in the morning. But the bikers and runners were out, people with strollers came later, and a few, in their Sunday best came out to get what there was to get of fresh vegetables and fresh tamales. Yum, guess what I had for lunch?
As always, massage candles were a big hit. But mostly, the kids just loved to smell everything. I'll be going at least two more Sundays, we'll see if it is worth it, or if I should just keep my Sundays free for sleeping in.
Well, it is Monday, another day back at work, so I better get at it.
I'll write more later.
